La Mer is the new chill out place on the block in Dubai. Recently opened in November 2017 on Jumeriah Beach is a perfect place to enjoy Dubai Winters . It was a perfect day weather wise to visit La Mer. After a lot of contemplation and roaming around we went to Kaftan Smoky Beach. Located just next to Jumeriah beach has a mesmerizing view of the beach with the sound of the waves and the cool breeze which immediately relaxes you. It’s an amazing place to spend your lazy Friday evening with Sheesha and beach bites . It was our first visit to this place and we ourselves didn’t know what to order. As soon as we entered the whole ambience of the place was so relaxing ; perfect music and breezy weather all complimented each other. We were seated at a table just next to the beach where we could enjoy the beach waves, the sea breeze and the stars. Kaftan has a variety of Sheesha flavors with options of single double (mix of 2 flavors) and house special flavors (Kaftan Special) . Although the sheesha is priced on a higher side as compared to other places in Dubai but its worth the money spent.Since ,it was our first visit and we didn’t know what to order and I personally go with the recommendations made by the staff as they know what are the best selling items on their menu. They suggested to us to go in for the Grape mint sheesha which is their best- selling sheesha. The sheesha was smooth and very nicely made with the exact amount of flavor.
Kaftan does not serve alcohol but the amazing view, music and vibe didn’t make us miss alcohol at all. They also have a wide collection of coffees, fresh juices, mocktails and smoothies. As the name suggests and given the weather we ordered the Turkish Tea , the flavors of the tea were robust and it had a very nice flowery after taste which was very unique and very distinct from other teas I have tried. Hot Turkish Tea and Grape Mint Sheesha were a great combination to relax and to have a great conversation with friends.
Now coming to the food , Kaftan Smokey Beach offers a great collection of beach bites, meze , salads and desserts . Since we were relatively full and we wanted to eat something light we went in for Tavuk Tantuni such an interesting name which led to curiosity as to what will be the dish be like. It was a chicken wrap with a well- balanced chicken filing with a flavor of egg in it which was not like a shawarma but a very normal chicken wrap which didn’t satisfy our curiosity as the name created. It was served with a side of French fries and Arabic pickles. The food there didn’t attract me much but I would like to give this place another place for the food. The sheesha, drinks, view are top notch.
